The annual festivals, races, and traditions that shape the year from Amelia Island to Daytona Beach.
Nights of Lights (through mid-January) — St. Augustine's historic district stays lit into the new year, and January is the quietest, most walkable stretch of the whole run. See our full Nights of Lights guide.
Daytona Speedweeks & the Daytona 500 (February) — Motorsports season opens at Daytona International Speedway and reshapes traffic and lodging across Volusia County for weeks.
Daytona Bike Week (late February into early March) — One of the largest motorcycle rallies in the country, running roughly ten days and drawing riders from across the world to Daytona Beach and up and down A1A.
THE PLAYERS Championship (March) — The PGA TOUR's flagship event at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, built around the famous island-green 17th hole. It is the single biggest week of the year for Ponte Vedra. See our Ponte Vedra Beach guide.
Rhythm & Ribs Festival (spring, St. Augustine) — A barbecue and live music festival in downtown St. Augustine, with competing pitmasters, a kids zone, and vendors filling the waterfront.
Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival (spring, Amelia Island) — Fernandina Beach's signature event, honoring the island's shrimping heritage with live music, an arts and crafts show, a family zone, and dozens of shrimp dishes landed right off the coast. See our Fernandina Beach guide.
Summer is the quietest stretch on the formal events calendar and the busiest on the beach. Expect Fourth of July fireworks in most beach towns, weekly farmers and artisan markets, and outdoor concert series that run through the warm months.
This is also the start of hurricane season, which runs June 1 through November 30 — if you're new to the area, read our hurricane season guide for First Coast homeowners.
Biketoberfest (October, Daytona Beach) — Bike Week's autumn counterpart, a four-day motorcycle rally that brings a second wave of riders to Daytona.
Fall festivals and food events — Cooler weather reopens the outdoor calendar across St. Augustine, Fernandina Beach, and the Jacksonville Beaches, with seafood festivals, art walks, and seasonal markets.
Nights of Lights begins (late November) — The switch flips on more than three million lights across downtown St. Augustine, kicking off the region's marquee holiday season.
Nights of Lights, in full swing — Downtown businesses stay open late, and the run includes holiday boat parades in Palm Valley and Matanzas Bay, Luminary Night at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum, and Candlelight Tours at Villa Zorayda Museum.
Town-by-town holiday events — Nearly every First Coast community runs its own tree lighting, holiday parade, and winter market through December.
Event dates move from year to year, and this page is a planning overview rather than a live calendar. Before you build a trip or a move-in date around any single event, confirm the current schedule with the event's own organizers or the local visitors bureau.
We'll help you find the First Coast community that matches the way you actually want to spend your year.
